BIO

Zazie Sales is a screenwriter and filmmaker with an interest in sci-fi, fantasy, comedy,  and women's stories. She graduated with a BFA in film from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts in 2023. Her short films have explored subjects such as gender, identity, and the influence of social media on modern life.

 

She recently completed her thesis film titled "My Best Friend's Boyfriend is a Vampire!" It was awarded Best Short Film at The Strange Days Horror Fest, was a finalist at the Independent Shorts Awards in both their Best Horror Short and Best Comedy Short categories, was selected for the Red Movie Awards and the Tokyo International Short Film Festival, was a Semi-Finalist at the Scream Queen Film Festival, and was awarded Best Short Script at the Toronto Indie Filmmakers Festival.

 

In 2022, her short film "The Reveal" was selected for the New York Shorts International Film Festival, and in 2023 it was a semi-finalist at the Serbest International Film Festival. Her short "The Steveverse" played at NYU's New Visions & Voices Festival in 2022, and in 2018, her short "Screenshot" premiered at the Los Angeles Women's International Film Festival. A native New Yorker, Zazie grew up in the East Village.
